All east-bound lanes on Kalakaua Avenue in Waikiki were reopened as of 3 p.m. Monday, but roadwork related to the 8-inch water-main break will continue Tuesday.

Honolulu Board of Water Supply Honolulu Board of Water Supply Follow this company spokesman Kurt Tsue told PBN that the far-right Koko-bound turn lane of Kalakaua Avenue will be closed when crews return to the site after 9 a.m. A Hawaiian Telcom crew will finish working on the area’s underground utility lines, and a Board of Water Supply crew will then backfill and repave the road. Tsue anticipates that all of the work will be completed by noon, and the far right lane will be reopened around that time.

The water-main break occurred Sunday at Kalakaua and Beachwalk avenues. The Board of Water Supply closed two Koko-bound lanes on Kalakaua as it began to repair the water-main after 6 p.m. Sunday. One low-rise building was affected by the water-main break.

Board of Water Supply crews worked through the night and fixed the water-main at 6 a.m. Monday; one east-bound lane of Kalakaua was been opened after the break was repaired, but one lane remained closed while Hawaiian Telcom crews worked on the utility lines.
